Have you or a loved one been thinking about filing a lawsuit against your doctor or hospital? Wondering how long it might take for your case to settle? The answer is kinda tough! Some cases can be drawn out for years while others can settle out of court quickly and easily.

Remember that in order for an attorney to actually accept your case there's likely a chance that there was a mistake. The issue with answering how long it can take to settle a malpractice suit are all the moving pieces involved.

Each malpractice case is going to be a little different. Ultimately your case and how long it takes to settle will depend on how strong the complaint is, how strongly the defendant is fighting the suit and of course what your willing to settle for. Remember that going to court takes time and money!
Most attorney will take a malpractice case on a contingency payment plan. Meaning that they feel you do have a good case and they will represent you and your interests and take payment when your case settles. The amounts can vary, again depending on the case and amount of work involved. Since these attorneys are initially working for free most of them will attempt to close the case and move forward as quickly as possible.
